The annual “ Bishop’s Mass ” celebrating the first bishop of the Diocese of Charlottetown, Bishop Angus Bernard MacEachern, will be celebrated at 4:00 p.m. on August 18th at St. Andrew’s Chapel with Bishop Richard Grecco presiding. Since 1990, the Friends have arranged for a Mass to be said at the Chapel in memory of Bishop MacEachern. The Mass is said in August to commemorate the arrival of Angus MacEachern on the Island in 1790.

After the mass there will be a pilgrimage walk at 2:00 p.m. beginning from Andrew’s Parish Church in Mount Stewart. Following a prayer, the participants will follow the trail along the river to the burial ground. One can walk up the cemetery road to the Chapel or take a car ride provided.

There will also be a blessing of cycles, bicycles or motorcycles. Cyclists may use the trail while motorcycles can use the highway.  Following Mass a light lunch will be served. Transportation will be provided back to the parish church for those leaving their car in Mount Stewart.
