One of the most popular songs in weddings today is Steven Curtis Chapman’s “I Will Be Here.” The song is a simple declaration by Chapman that no matter what their marriage goes through, he will be there for his wife.

Sadly, Chapman was inspired to write this song for his wife after he learned that his own parents were divorcing. As Chapman says,

“Seeing the pain of my parents’ divorce caused Mary Beth and me to ask ourselves how we could prevent this in our marriage. We spent many hours together in prayer and through that process came to understand that to love and forgive unconditionally on a daily basis is the only way a marriage can last”

Tomorrow mornin’

If you wake up

And the sun Does not appear

I, I will be here

If in the dark

We lose sight of love

Hold my hand

And have no fear

‘Cause I, I will be here –
